This is a pic on the last Colorado trip that Susan's brother Harry put together.

 Great trip!!! Nice Job Harry!

It's a great bike but it ain't no Black Fatboy. A little more comfortable at highway speeds but does not handle as well.  I guess you just don't forget your first one....   Certainly easier to keep clean!!  This was on the way from Silverton to Durango.

Thanks to Priscilla for the pic..

Latest Folly. (12/11/09)

1980 FXE Shovelhead

I don't know what got into me, but I was in a plumbing shop buying some parts to rebuild a shower valve and saw a picture of a bike on the door that was for sale.  The sign said, ask for Jimmy who turned out to not only be the guy behind the counter, but the same guy that sold me the shower valve 20 years ago when I did the upstairs.    Jeeez some things make you feel old fast.

Well we went back and forth over a couple of weeks and I ended up buying it.  Not much that is original which is unfortunate but it is my first older HD and I am pretty excited to ride it.

It needs brakes fore and aft, the shifter linkage needs some work and the boards have gotta go!!  but other than that it looks to be in pretty good shape.  Took it into "Over the Hill Harley Repair" to a fellow named Freez ( That's it, just Freez.  Quite a character) as he worked on the bike before.

Not going to do much with it. Hoping to learn a thing or two working on it (preferably not on the side of the road but that's why God invented trailers)  It's got a kick start but who are we kidding??.. It has electric start too.

VIN search with Harley says it was a 1200cc (74ci)  Vivid Black shipped to Kegel HD in Rockford.  I think the only original components are the engine (now it is a 1340cc) and the frame.

Pretty cool huh?
